Haunted house
Spirits pounce
Ghosts to meet
Or trick or treat
Where’s the ghost?
Or is it lost
No ghost to be seen
On this Halloween

Tricksters seen and unseen
Halloween pumpkin peek-a-boo
Trick or treat of guess who
Humming beat of a cat’s purr
Glimpse of silky midnight fur
Suddenly black cat pounces
Escaping the haunted house
Prowling neighboring streets
Meowing for trick or treats
By a whisker scarcely seen
For a stray Halloween

HOTEL
Home in
Virginia City, Nevada
Where quests
pitter and patter
The place then
to raise hell
Was the
infamous Gold Hill Hotel
Yet as the
gold rush faded
Patron’s no
longer traded
At the Gold Hill Hotel
As the grand
dame fell
Never let it
be said
Gold Hill was
left for dead
Restored,
expanded by way
Into a
luxurious Inn today
Visitors and
elite alike
Stay there
many a night
Yet in one of
the rooms
An unpaid
quest looms
The night is
still
As a scent of
roses fill
Room number 5
so cozy
Haunts a ghost
named Rosie
As legend
foretells
At the Gold
Hill Hotel
It can be
said
There walks
the dead
