Dad, Sing Me a Song (In Memory of Gerard Fischetti) |
Dad, sing me a song
Tell me how I belong
To you, as a
family
Together in harmony
Dad, sing me a song
Tell me to sing
along,
Sing with me now
and teach me how
Dad, sing me a song
Tell me about the days I long
When you were big and strong
before we
parted and said so long

The Pendulum
Swings
From dawn to sunset brings The pendulum of life swings It was once upon a time Of swings and nursery rhythms Young girls at Sheepshead Park On the swings until it got dark Flying high chasing the clouds My childhood days allowed As I look back on yesterday The pendulum swings the other way By sweeping fallen leaves away I long to swing again today |

Seagulls by the Bay |
Visit Long Island dock Where Seagulls flock I ponder and mull Home of the Seagull Behold the sight Seagulls take flight To soar from within Adrift with the wind The Seagull’s race Call out their place Navigate and glide Alive in the sky Wings span Like a white fan All kinds of weather Birds of a feather Day or night Scavengers in flight Seagulls come near Perch on the pier I lay bits of bread Seagulls are fed Calm waters today Seagulls by the bay |

BLESS THIS CHURCH
House of God’s kingdom
All the faithful welcome
Where the flock gathers
To pray rejoice together
In this place apart
God is in our heart
Body and soul, too
Behold Christ is in you
Clergy’s sermon preaches
As Jesus devout teachers
Spiritual testaments
Divine sacraments
The rites of passages
Thru all the holy stages
Of our religious belief
Seeking redemption relief
Blessed Holy Trinity
Await Heaven’s destiny
Thy will is done
God bless everyone

TOUR LONG ISLAND
For visitors and residents alike
Find a rich tapestry of sites
It’s a treasure trove
Along the Long Island cove
Long Island plays host
To beaches on it’s coast
Swimming, boating, sea air
All can be found there
The changing scene
Vacations serene
Splendor of open land
Fountains of beaches sand
For Long Island land
Robert Moses master plan
An array of sites
Days and nights
All can be found
At the Long Island sound
Tour Long Island and roam
The place I call home

MY SISTER AND HER CAT
My sister, Laura pets Princess
As her long hair tresses
Falls to touch the cat’s fur
The cat’s soothing purr
Busy work of her day
Forgotten for a stay
To share a quiet nap
My sister and her cat

Love me, Laura, like I love you
Treat me tender, the way you do Kiss no other, no matter who Love me, Laura and please be true My life is yours dear, for you to take My heart is yours , for you to break Don’t ever leave me, my heart ache Love me, Laura for goodness sake One day we’ll marry, you’ll see We’ll settle down with a family A cozy cottage, a backyard tree Love me, Laura, oh please love me

I Can
See Dad There
Published Pink Chameleon
(In memory of Gerard Fischetti)
By Susan Marie Davniero
I can
see Dad there
Handsome with dark wavy hair He sings the tunes Ballads and romances he croons Always the gentlemen I can remember when He dressed quite the man A stylish Dapper Dan Poker—deal him in He played to win Proud veteran of WWII Salutes the red, white and blue With finesse he toils Gardening in the soil At his workbench he stands A master craftsman in demand I always believed it to be Dad would watch over me Yet for a man so nice He had but one deadly vice The cigarettes he craved Put him in an early grave No more was I serenaded The songs have faded I can see Dad there Handsome with dark wavy hair His photo frame on my night stand He sits pose with a cigarette in his hand
