I agree Hillary is presidential, prepared, and diligent an intellect with detail plans and with experience. Without fanfare or empty promises, she is the only candidate who really knows how to get the job done. As President, Hillary would act on her campaign promises, as her plans go beyond words.
Clinton has real plans - Hillary is the real deal.

To the Editor:
It was debatable who won the Democratic Debate. In my opinion, Hillary won the debate. Clinton was on her game, confident, in control and took command of the stage. The Clinton political muscle with that touch of charisma showed up.
During the debate, Clinton held her own, taking on her components as she worked the room resonating with the audience. Clinton's political star shone!
With a little help from her friends, Sanders; "The people are sick and tired hearing about Hillary's email..." Clinton's emails became old news and was off the table.
The camera was good to Hillary showing maturity and experience for leadership and commander in chief; and soft enough to relate to the people in the woman role; "It takes a village..." Hillary cares for the people, the children, the veterans, the poor and the middle class rights, education, social security and healthcare for all.
At times, Mrs. Clinton seemed to model herself after Eleanor Roosevelt as the wise pioneer of people's rights and support of her husband's The New Deal. At another time Eleanor would be running for President...perhaps Hillary is living her dream to be the first woman President.
Experience counts - and when Hillary Clinton cast doubt of accusation that other contenders do not support gun control, women's rights, veterans and seniors benefits, we tend to believe it.
As president, Mrs. Clinton is true to her word as her plans go beyond words, while others would be content to be just a figurehead or write another speech. .
Polls show Hillary Clinton won this round. Clinton's now in step to carry the momentum to the next debate to stay level with the first. Perhaps this first debate was a game change and will set a "precedent" for future Presidential Debates. Only the voters know for sure.

Bravo to Geraldine Ferraro, a trailblazing politician who made a difference and left the
world a better place ["Ferraro shone for women and Italian-Americans,"Opinion, March 29].
It was fitting that Ferraro made her farewell in March, Women's History Month. She made history as the first female, and first Italian-American candidate for vice president. Although she did not win that race, it was still a victory for women.
As a New York congresswoman, Rep. Ferraro shattered the political glass ceiling, opening the door for women today to follow her path.
I hail women such as Geraldine Ferraro who chose to take a different path. By their vision in the past, women today can see their future.

Bravo to Andrew Cuomo in his win for NY Governor!
The best rulers are bred from experience. There are no short cuts to any place worth going. Apparently Cuomo’s proven resume scored the credentials and expertise to qualify for the job to govern New York.
There are choices everywhere; however, Andrew Cuomo was the people’s choice given the landslide victory. All things considered, it was the voter’s choice.
Perhaps one Cuomo a decade isn’t enough. Given Cuomo’s political family legacy the Governor’s office is apt to be Andrew Cuomo’s inheritance. Nothing succeeds like success.
Like father, like son - as the son rises following his father’s footsteps as Governor of New York. Governor Mario Cuomo trained the son in the way he should go on path to Gracie Mansion. Encore!

Donald Trump is considering a Presidential bid. Reportedly this isn’t the first time we heard the Donald talking Presidency.
I recall back in 2000 when “George” magazine did a cover story on Trump in April 2000 because I wrote about it and was published in the May “George” issue.
Perhaps as a benefactor candidate of celebrity wealth, alas some votes are for sale. However, given Trumps lack of success for a Presidential candidacy since 2000 some votes do not stay brought.
That being said Donald Trump still doesn’t have a chance for without party organization backing or a regional base support Trump has no where to go.

Carrie Prejean's backlash that she lost the crown due to a loaded question about gay marriage is the type of outcome when women compete to be a Barbie Doll beauty queen. Barbie is a doll - but must our women be also?
The crown of victory awarded in beauty pageants is shallow and all women pay the price for it. Contestants should take their dignity back, for no beauty contest shall defeat us.

Sarah Palin’s book tour her new memoir book, “Going Rogue” has begun. Hopefully, Palin will be better prepared this time around for interviews.
There is no such thing as over exposure when it comes to Palin for she is a product of the media for which her career was sold to the public. And the public brought her and is expected to buy her book to make it a predictable best seller – released just in time for holiday gifts.
Perhaps Sarah Palin’s book tour will turn the page on her next political step onward to the next chapter as Palin follows a path less taken by most women. In any hope to know the real Sarah Palin I suggest you read between the lines.
There is no denying that Sarah Palin is definitely back. As her father puts it: “She’s not quitting – she’s reloading” – perhaps aiming to take a shot to run for the Presidency in 21012!
Sarah Palin has the “it factor” for success to draw crowds, sell books and hear the applause for fame – you just can’t not like her! Yet, after I learned more about her, I have come to disagree with her political views and frankly, I question her ability to govern.
Given Sarah Plain’s charisma and personality she may belong somewhere in the public arena – alas, perhaps just not in politics.

Greetings from the US Post Office on the issuance of a new US postage stamp in the glorification of Mother Teresa for her humanitarian acts. I post my stamp of approval welcoming the new stamp aptly fitting First Class.
In the memory of Mother Teresa’s devotion to the ideals of charity and benevolence her image may serve as a trusted courier of the mail. Essentially, the postal stamp is her post of honor amongst the legendary rooster of US Post Office Hall of Fame.
As an honorary US citizen (in a joint resolution of Congress in 1996), Mother Teresa’s service to God is a befitting portrait affix on a US postage stamp - “In God We Trust.”
I am proud to affix her postage stamp on my mail sending Mother Teresa’s deliverance. I keep “write” on writing so I just brought the new Mother Teresa US Postage stamp. I look forward to send Greetings from the US Post office from me.

To the Editor:
Senator John McCain won the debate. Mr. McCain was on his game and on the offense, putting Senator Barack Obama on the defensive.
The camera showed Mr. McCain with fortitude, statesmanlike and tough enough to be commander in chief; and soft enough to relate to the people in the grandfather, father or husband role as head of the family.
At times, Mr. McCain seemed to model and pride himself after Dwight D. Eisenhower as the wiser, military worldly leader, even citing Eisenhower at times. Experience counts — and when Mr. McCain cast doubt of accusation that “Senator Obama does not understand,” answering Mr. Obama reciting a chorus of “You’re absolutely right,” we tend to believe it.
As president, Mr. McCain would roll up his sleeves and act on his campaign promises, as his plans go beyond words, while Mr. Obama would probably write another book.
Mr. McCain won this round, essentially because Mr. Obama didn’t (given the Harvard advantage of his fluent eloquent speech mannerism).
The audience gains as these debates go on even if the next one stays level with the first. Perhaps the debate was not a game changer; only the voters can say that on Election Day.

New Yorkers can be proud that another New York woman is on the Supreme Court, and that a voice for women will once again be heard ("Will Kagan be as open as she wanted others to be?" Cover story) Essentially, the Supreme Court nomination befits Elena Kagan given her credentials and experience.
There are no short cuts to any place worth going, and Kagan has taken many difficult steps on her journey to the Supreme Court nomination including graduating from Princeton University, and making tough decisions about the military entering the campus as dean of Harvard Law, decisions that many now criticize.
Many also criticize her lack of judicial experience. However, given the rest of her experience, in my book she's still a wise choice. Bravo New York

DAVE LETTERMAN
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW

It was headline news when Dave Letterman admitted he had sexual relations with multiple staff members rather than concede to extortion. Given that Letterman is the boss this revelation begs to question if sexual liaisons was conditional to job security - which isn't funny.
The comic persona who jokes about others sexual illicit behavior wasn’t laughing then when the joke was on him. Letterman’s jokes came at his own expense as he was turned into a caricature of late night TV. No one was laughing.
Letterman sometimes leans back and lets his lazy sex jokes carry the load - now he has new material - his own. I can’t get past the sexual abuse of a male superior. Pardon me if I don’t laugh.
Perhaps Letterman got high ratings from the scandal, yet, women paid the price. Alas, Letterman’s “Late Great Comeback” ends with a bang of a punch line - the joke is on him. Frankly, no one cares about Letterman anymore.
Alas, the aging comic grows older, but doesn’t grow up.

Ruled by the public persona, apparently Al and Tipper Gore’s marriage was made in terms of secrecy. In times of change and uncertainty it’s still a shocker to learn of Al and Tipper’s Gore pending divorce.
Yet, I am always suspect of public displays of affections to project a false image; which may be the instance of the Gore’s looming divorce. There is more to this story that has yet to be told.
Alas, it is disappointing when a public blissful political marriage romance does not live up to the image and does not last happily ever after.

Go back to your old haunts in your old neighborhood and what do you find – it appears to have changed. People revisit their old neighborhoods and not one of them is seeing the same things. We can never make proper goodbyes.
This is how I feel about Hollis, Queens . I left a long time ago to grow up happily on Long Island . I never quite said goodbye and I never looked back.
However, reading the Daily News “Your Guide to Hollis” (Queens) I have come to know more bout Queens now than when I lived there. Perhaps, by reading all about it, you can go home again, after all.

Don’t bet on it that New York will roll the dice anytime soon on casino gambling. All bets are off in a free market. Most people don’t have the moral language to debate on gambling’s influence for us as a community.
Essentially, gambling tends to reduce everybody to a common denominator – money. The money speaks for itself to leap forward into a stage of economic prosperity or poverty for New York – it’s a gamble after all.

Farwell to the Rev. Anthony Trapani, who is leaving Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst in June. We will miss him.
According to a letter he wrote for the church bulletin, the drama over the closing of the parish school led him to resign.
The 99-year-old school is scheduled to close a few days after Father Anthony's last day.
I recall a Mass one morning recently when Father Anthony said God will decide how he wants to use us. He doesn't ask for a resume or a letter of reference. Perhaps Father Anthony was speaking about himself at this crossroads of his ministry.

The Columbus Day Parade is a celebration of tradition. Columbus’ sailing voyage gives wind to fly the Italian flag; yet it waves alongside the American red, white and blue flag in patriotic unity with Americans. Columbus Day is for all Americans together.
Looking back, I remember my beautiful-Italian-born grandmother Bridget proudly becoming an American citizen. My grandmother held my hand as a little girl as we walked to the voting booths and grandma voted for the first time during the 1960 Kennedy-Nixon presidential election. I recall Grandma saying: “The women vote for Kennedy because he’s so good-looking.”
That was then, this is now. All Americans are members of the cast on the Columbus Day stage. We are all in this together. God bless America!
